Last summer in Washington, D.C. at ALA, the ACRL Board has approved standards for proficiences of instruction.
For instruction librarians, these new standards are broken down into the following proficiencies:
- Administrative Skills
- Assessment and Evaluation Skills
- Communication Skills
- Curriculum Knowledge
- Information Literacy Integration Skills
- Instructional Design Skills
- Leadership Skills
- Planning Skills
- Presentation Skills
- Promotion Skills
- Subject Expertise
- and finally, yes, Teaching Skills.
